The Test Engineer is responsible for the overall testing strategy for GuideStone.  This includes the identification of best practices and development of test processes that will drive a culture of high quality delivery within an agile software development environment.  The individual in this role will help create a culture of continuous testing across all phases of the system development life cycle by infusing automated tests into the environment while also helping drive static tests. They will work closely with the development staff, IT Operations personnel, BAs/UX designers, and Product Managers to foster a collaborative spirit that is highly driven to release reliable applications faster and more frequently.  

 

What you will do:

  • Drive the strategy for implementing test automation into a continuous integration and continuous development environment

  • Develop and execute test plans to achieve automated and manual functional testing, as well as, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing

  • Design and develop automated test suites to ensure high quality and a high level of test coverage

  • Track and report software defects for review by the software development team

  • Perform research and detailed root cause analysis of test failures, reported defects, and performance and scalability issues

  • Mentor the IT staff and various business partners on essential skills and best practices regarding automated and manual tests (equip others on how to be good testers)

  • Develop metrics-based reporting and KPI's to analyze quality of software and release-readiness

  • Remain current with industry standards in test automation methodologies and tools

  • Actively identify and recommend areas of automation and provide solutions to improve the continuous test process

 

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 5+ years performing software application test events in accordance with approved test plans, procedures and execution of automated test scripts 

  • 2 + years leading an organization’s test engineering efforts

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative agile software development environment with continuous integration and test-driven development (have worked in a DevOps environment)

  • Hands on experience with automated testing tools

  • Experience designing test automation frameworks for JavaScript and .NET code

  • Exposure to C#, ASP.net Web Forms and MVC, SSIS, SSAS, SQL and Selenium a plus

  • Experience designing load/performance tests using JMeter/BlazeMeter a plus

  • Experience with cross-browser and cross-device testing

  • Understanding of Agile-based methodologies (particularly SCRUM)

  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working on cross-functional teams

  • Experience working in the Financial Services industry a plus
