Job Summary
Serve as the driving force behind GuideStone's data governance initiatives, ensuring the strategic alignment of data management practices with organizational objectives and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making excellence.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to implement data standards, data management practices, and data stewardship.
Monitor data management practices to ensure adherence to established policies and standards.
Assist in the resolution of data quality issues and the implementation of corrective measures
Manage metadata, including creation, updates, and deletion, to support organizational needs.
Participate in the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries and other data classification systems.
Generate reports and presentations for senior management detailing the status of data governance initiatives.
Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations regarding data governance and data management
Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, technology teams, and cross-functional units to understand data requirements and challenges comprehensively, ensuring a unified understanding across all parties.
Participate in enterprise-wide data management maturity assessments to define status, future aspirations, and the guiding principles for data governance initiatives
Develop and maintain a comprehensive enterprise data operating model covering people, processes, technology, and governance structures to achieve holistic data management excellence
Support the identification and prioritization of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), ensuring proper governance controls and lineage tracking are applied.
Develop and manage data governance metrics and KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of policies and stewardship activities.
Coordinate with data architects and engineers to ensure governance standards are embedded in data architecture and platform decisions.
Contribute to the design and administration of data governance tools (Microsoft Purview) to support cataloging, lineage, and stewardship workflows.
Establish and oversee data access controls and classification standards to manage risk and protect sensitive information assets.
What You'll Need
Bachelor’s degree.
Master’s Degree, preferred.
5+ years of direct experience, preferred.
Experience working in Data Governance and Data Quality systems such as Purview, Collibra, Qlik, etc
Excellent communicator able to galvanize and influence teams outside of data governance domain
