Basic Purpose: This position manages the recipient relations of the Mission:Dignity ministry of GuideStone. The Recipient Relations Manager will effectively lead the Recipient Relations team, overseeing all processes of receiving, verifying, and approving applications, as well as granting payments, all while adhering strictly to annual spend policies. This position will utilize data driven metrics along with recipient management tools and appropriate donor management tools to drive innovation and greater efficiency. Additionally, the Recipient Relations Manager will drive recipient recruitment initiatives of the department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute the “Guidelines for Mission:Dignity Assistance” approved by the Relief Committee of the GuideStone trustee board.
  • Develop targeted initiatives to cultivate deeper relationships with recipients, including personalized acknowledgments, appropriate events, and ongoing engagement opportunities, fostering loyalty and commitment to the ministry’s mission.
  • Utilize data analytics and recipient relationship management tools to track and analyze recipient behavior, preferences, and engagement metrics, additionally incorporating data-driven decision-making combined with organization objectives to optimize resource allocation and maximize the impact of ministry efforts.
  • Develop and implement strategic protocols to streamline and optimize the application, verification and approval processes ensuring efficiency, accuracy and alignment with the department’s mission and organizational goals.
  • Judiciously manage the disbursement of monthly, expense, emergency, and other grants to recipients, meticulously adhering to annual spending policies to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with department objectives and budget.
  • Strategically oversee all aspects of recipient relations personnel management, including talent acquisition, job assignment, performance evaluation, professional development, and disciplinary actions, while also guiding decisions related to salary adjustments, promotions, and transfers, as well as coordinating schedules and training initiatives for optimal team performance and growth.
  • Coordinate with state convention and disaster relief partners to assist recipients beyond Mission:Dignity assistance.
  • Collaborate with recipients to proactively identify and address concerns, provide comprehensive answers to inquiries, and effectively resolve any issues or challenges that may arise, ensuring optimal recipient satisfaction and engagement.
  • Strategically collaborate with the operations team to meticulously safeguard the integrity of all recipient records and transactions, implementing robust systems and protocols to ensure accuracy, compliance, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with marketing strategist to spearhead the creation and development of all recipient communications, ensuring their alignment with trustee approved guidelines, leveraging targeted messaging and innovative approaches to enhance engagement, reinforcing brand identity, and effectively conveying the mission and impact of the organization in the creation and development of all communications to recipients.
  • Collaborate with the Team Lead of Mission:Dignity Operations in providing statistical reports, analysis, and projections of recipient base to the Director of Mission:Dignity, GuideStone executives, Relief Committee, and GuideStone trustees.
  • In coordination with Director of Mission:Dignity, make recommendations to Relief Committee for changes to program guidelines based on shifting program needs, economy and government assistance adjustments.
  • Serve as the “liaison designee” for the Relief Committee of the GuideStone trustee board, developing accurate materials for the Relief Committee meetings.
  • Continuously evaluate Recipient Relations workflow, systems and structure to align with best practices, preparing and presenting recommendations to Director and other GuideStone Management, as needed.
  • In consultation with the Director of Mission:Dignity, develop and execute recipient recruitment initiatives.
  • Continuing education and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments in GuideStone to bolster the GuideStone experience among GuideStone members and Mission:Dignity recipients.
  • Create presentations and deliver to groups and churches about Mission:Dignity.
  • Assist in fulfilling the day-to-day operational processes, as needed.
  • Write articles and create content for publications and materials, as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Mission:Dignity.

Supervisory Responsibilities and/or Relationships

 

Supervision of recipient relations team members.

 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, recommending of hiring employees, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recommending rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Business major a plus).
  • Ability to travel about 10% of time to represent Mission:Dignity and GuideStone.
  • 5+ years personnel and process management a plus.
  • 3+ years managerial experience or related experience a plus.
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills including face-to-face, telephone and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of, or proven ability to learn, secular assistance programs including benefits, eligibility and qualifications for Medicare, Medicaid, food stamp, Veteran’s Administration, Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, nursing home assistance, subsidized housing and other public assistance programs.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of functions and processes of other GuideStone departments including insurance, retirement and financial and accounting.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, finance and accounting methods and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of various economic, social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Project planning and project management skills.
  • Budget preparation and management skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with applications for database management, word processing, and development of Excel spreadsheets.
